  2. My husband and I decided to have our baby be a Cabbage Patch Kid for her first Halloween because everybody says she looks like one. We built it out of wood and painted it by hand, it is 1.75 scale of an original Cabbage Patch Kid box. We have included an official Babyland General Hospital blanket purchased from Cabbage Patch. The birth certificate is an official Cabbage Patch birth certificate specially ordered with our baby’s real name and birth date. We dressed her in an outfit that is similar to doll clothes and yes that is her real hair. She is 6 months old. We had a lot of fun creating this fun costume and our baby loved it too.

  7. O my gosh, I haven't looked at this for days and we have so many votes. All of our friends and family voted last week, so this must be support from people we don't know. This means so much to us, thank you!!! Please leave a comment if you can, I would love to hear your thoughts :)

  8. Your family and friends can vote everyday, not just once. I have been voting for you everyday because I like this costume the best. Not that the others are bad, I just love this one. You seem like nice people too.

  9. So I have a favor to ask of all of our supports- We have a local contest that we entered this into that we would really love to win.

This is the contest that started the whole idea of making the Cabbage Patch Kid box for Betty. Voting started today and ends next Thursday the 13th at noon. The first link is a link to all the pictures that people have entered into the contest and Betty is number 73. The second link takes you right to a ballot where you can cast your vote; Betty is number 73 on the ballot also. You can not do this one from work for sure, please forward it to your home email and vote from home. If you could help me network a bunch of votes by forwarding this to your friends and family and so on that would be much appreciated. The prize is $500 cash and if we win we are going to start a savings account for Betty. Thank you!!

View this link to see the entries, Betty is #73

  11. I voted for Betty, and I got the confirmation e-mail so I know it went through! I'll encourage my supporters to do the same. Good Luck! It really is a darling costume, more really, a whole "set" of sorts, for a darling girl! Love all the detail!

Thanks for your kind words. Good natured competition is so refreshing here! LOL!

There are a lot of voting days yet . . . and a lot of great entries, it's still really anyone's game!

    Good Luck!

  15. No, they don't have any way of telling. I think they are annoucing the winner next week though and will for sure let you know. There are so many cute ones on there I am worried if we will win.

  16. Here's our vote for the day...Hope you are winning your local contest.

    Comment by Good Job - November 11, 2008 @ 7:11 PM

  17. You should win this contest for two reasons. One, it's a really cute picture & costume and actually deserves to win. Two, you have the highest vote count for someone who did NOT cheat. Kudos to you and your moral standards.

  18. Thank you for your support!! So we didn't win the local contest. #22, a baby in a Superman costume standing at a coffee table in a living room won. I would put the picture here, but I don't want to upset anybody. But life moves on, we are bummed. Maybe we will win this contest, ha ha. But keep supporting usif you want to, it does make my husband and I feel really good. And if Betty understood I know she would be greatful too. Thanks again :)

  19. I'm so sorry you didn't win the other contest. This is still my favorite entry. Betty is just a doll baby. I still have my first Cabbage Patch doll that I got as a Christmas gift the first year they came out (even tho I was an adult, I thought they were cute) :-)

    Comment by ScotKitty - November 14, 2008 @ 3:04 PM

  20. That's funny and I love it, I still have my first one that I think I got the second year they were out. I was just a kid and the first year they came out my mom couldn't afford to get me a real one. I recall getting a home made one and I thought it was real. I showed my friend and she pulled the pants down and there was no signature on the doll's bottom. My friend then began making fun of me and told me mine was fake. I then went and gave it back to my mom and was made at her for a while. So I think it was the next Christmas she was able to get me a real one. I was only 5 or 6 and didn't know any better. I feel so bad now since I now know as an adult how hard it can be sometimes with money. I look back and think how hard my mom must have worked to even get me a home made one and I am sure that I crushed her when I gave it back to her. I wish I could turn back time :( Anyways, moving on to today....my daughter is only 6 months and I have already bought her three cabbage patch dolls! My husband and I are going to turn this doll box into a storage shelf for Betty to keep her dolls in. And I still have the first real cabbage patch that my mom got me, and funny enough it looks a lot like Betty. Ah, memories...they are nice :) Thanks for sharing your with me! And thanks for the support :)

  21. What a beautiful story about your mom. It makes me want to hug her. :-) When I first saw the Cabbage Patch dolls advertized on TV, I told my family that this was a cool idea and the company was going to make big bucks off of it. I was right! I have about 10 of these dolls (mostly from the 80's) with one of them being one of those bigger all soft dolls that were sent in small supplies to a few stores in the country. You guys really outdid yourselves on that display. Did you send a picture to the company?

    Comment by ScotKitty - November 17, 2008 @ 1:42 PM

  22. That is so cool you have one of the plush face dolls :) I haven't thought about sending our picture to Cabbage Patch, but maybe I will after all of this contest stuff is over. Thanks for the idea :)
