  9. SAD YOU HAVE TO CHEAT

    Comment by THOMAS - November 3, 2008 @ 5:30 PM

  10. Yeah . . . I wondered when we'd get some negative comment. From looking at last year's entries it looks like anyone with lots of votes eventually does. So, since the object basically is to get people to vote for you, and we've done that, how exactly do you cheat?

    Comment by Cades Mommy - November 3, 2008 @ 7:41 PM

  11. How are you getting so many votes? Your vote count has been almost static all day, then all of the sudden it jumps up by a couple hundred. It looks like you are cheating.

    Comment by Concerned - November 3, 2008 @ 8:11 PM

  12. Geez, I mean, honestly . . . I entered for fun and because I think this is a cute Halloween picture of my son. I've sent daily e-mail reminders to tons of friends to vote, my co-workers, my husband's co-workers, my son's therapists, Facebook, various blogs I belonged to for infertility issues and that I now belong to for autism support, since my son has autism. So shamelessly soliciting votes is cheating? I thought that was the object!

    Comment by Cades Mommy - November 3, 2008 @ 8:36 PM

  13. Sorry, I didn't mean to accuse you. I just said it looks like you are cheating. It's amazing that you got your groups to all sign on at the same time and make sure to give you one vote every four seconds.

  18. Cute! Cute ! Whats in the oven little chef? We too have a child with autism and I can only imagine how difficult it was for you all to snap this great picture. To all you naysayers...get a life. This picture is too cute and you can not deny it !

    Comment by Carol - November 4, 2008 @ 7:05 AM

  20. Cute Picture. Ignore all those negative folks...is it worth all that? I suspect it is those who are complaining who equally have a large number of votes. This is a kids costume contest for goodness sakes! This picture is adorable !

  24. My husband is a chef in NOLA. This costume is too cute. I would love to have my son dress like his daddy...maybe the restaurant owner would feature them in an ad? What do you think Curtis? Did you get this costume at a restaurant supply store? Very cute. Let's Vote NOLA for the little chef !

    Comment by Sherrie K - November 4, 2008 @ 8:39 AM

  25. Thanks Sherrie K.! And thank for the vote! Cooking is one of my son's fascinations, so we loved finding this costume. I think I actually found it here, but it's not listed now. They have a different Junior Chef, also cute! I bet you could find it on eBay. Maybe we'll see your little guy here next year next to his Daddy!!!!!

    Comment by Cades Mommy - November 4, 2008 @ 10:55 AM

  26. Winners will be selected on the basis of originality, style, creativity, photographic excellence, visual impact and artistic quality.

    Comment by rule # 2 - November 4, 2008 @ 5:01 PM

  27. Your costume is not original, has no style, absolutely no creativity, very little photographic excellence, very little visual impact and NO artistic quality.

Nobody knows 1767 people that would care enough to vote for your kid. You, your friends, blog mommys and so on are cheating. Cheating takes the FUN right out of the contest for everybody.

You should NEVER use your child's handicap as an edge to win a contest that is suppose to be fun for ALL children who enter.

You do have a nice kitchen though. Maybe if we were in a contest to see who has the best kitchen you should win. But otherwise there are MANY more costumes on here that are MUCH better than yours.

    Comment by I SECOND THAT - November 4, 2008 @ 5:09 PM

  28. Well, Second That, if you don't like the costume or the picture please, by all means, vote for one of the worthy contenders with as many or more votes than me. There's an adorable cat; a lovely, gothic angel-devil; a rapping hippo; another cat, I believe; a rotting bride called Emily; and an admittedly adorable little devil who also has been identified as a handicapped child (I actually cast a vote for this little guy - my son wore that same costume at around that age). I suspect you are one of those competitors, though, so you probably know about them all. Pretty poor sportsmanship to be so nasty and personal. I think voting is the point of the contest and I'm so sorry you disagree with the voters I've been able to rally. Thanks for the compliment on my kitchen though . . . send me your e-mail and I'll invite you to dinner sometime! LOL!

    Comment by Cades Mommy - November 4, 2008 @ 5:35 PM

  29. LOL. Gosh guys don't worry about those negative comments. Frankly, they just annoy me and make me send this out to more people than I would have. Because of those comments, I have now sent this out to the entire email group for the company and forwarded it to our daughter who is going to send it out on her campus email. You guys have as much creativity as any of the forerunners! If you can't generate this many votes than no one can. How come none of the other leaders have any negative comments? Come on ! Whose the pot calling the kettle black. I have put this out as a recurring email to my company. Good lord, these people are nasty. This is becoming hilarious ! Go CHEF !!!

    Comment by Firmer - November 4, 2008 @ 7:27 PM

  33. Lost in the forest, they find a house made of ginger bread and candies, with sugar windows. Unable to resist, they begin to eat it. The inhabitant of the house, an old woman, invites them in and prepares a feast for them. The table is covered with candy, nuts, pancakes and other sweets. The woman, however, is a witch who has built the house to entice children to her, so that she may fatten and eat them.

    Comment by Want to Cheat? - November 4, 2008 @ 7:40 PM

  38. I don't know how safe it is for children with autism to be playing that close to an oven. I think it is in poor taste to endanger a child for the sake of a picture.

    Comment by Nice Pergo - November 4, 2008 @ 7:47 PM

  39. How old is this kid, he looks like he's ten years old.

PS is that Pergo? It does look good.

    Comment by Hubbard - November 4, 2008 @ 7:50 PM

  40. Hey "Want To Cheat," Honestly, does that work? How's that workin' out for you? I notice you're attacking all the lead kiddos so I expect you've got an entry on here somewhere. Too bad I've got a job or I could sit and vote all day and stop pestering my friends! Maybe some of the "blog mommies" that "I Second That" attributes our votes to will pick up on your tip and throw me some extras! THANKS!

    Comment by Cades Mommy - November 4, 2008 @ 8:52 PM

  41. Hey "Nice Pergo," You're not really all that nice . . . Thanks for the observation, though. I'll try to be a better autism Mom from now on!

Oh, and "Hubbard," he's 6, thanks for asking!

  46. Does it count as cheating if I vote once for each of my personalities?

    Comment by A Friend - November 4, 2008 @ 9:45 PM

  47. I've been reading all the comments (so sad a contest brings out the worst in people) and I decided to watch the votes. Everytime I refreshed the page there was another vote. Something weird is going on here. Oh, well. Hope the prize is worth it.

    Comment by Joe - November 4, 2008 @ 10:03 PM

  48. I know. Go check out "Our Little Devil." No votes all day and now he's racking up several a minute! What's the deal? How do they post votes?

    Comment by Also Concerned - November 4, 2008 @ 10:15 PM

  49. O my gosh! What a great idea! I am so going to take “want to cheat’s” idea and make sure my kid wins. Unlike you I don’t have a job, so I can sit here all day and all night and whoop your butt. This totally explains why your votes only increase at night. This is all making perfect sense. You’re on baby, may the best mom win.

    Comment by Concerned - November 4, 2008 @ 11:00 PM

  50. This is Cades Daddy and my wife is a sociopath and doesn’t know any better than to cheat and lie. So please stop making fun of her and our son, our life is hard enough already. She is sitting in our beautiful kitchen crying right now as she racks up the votes on her lap top. Please just let her have this win, it means so much to her and it will make my life easier (if you know what I mean.) Good luck to all the losers that have fewer votes than us. Nice try, but our son rocks!! O and it’s not Pergo it’s Hand Scrapped ¾ inch Cherry WOOD that I paid over $18,000 dollars for because my wife wouldn’t shut up till she had it!! Damn Neighbors and their nice kitchen. Anyway, thanks for your voteS.

    Comment by Cades Daddy - November 4, 2008 @ 11:21 PM

  51. If you're going to get on and post nasty things, do it as yourself. Cade's Real Daddy is going to beat you up!!!!!

    Comment by Cades Mommy (Really) - November 5, 2008 @ 5:00 AM

  52. And while I'm at it . . . please don't use my entry to post negative things about other entries. That's just not nice.

  53. Rule N: Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify anyone who, in their opinion, has tampered with or disrupted the entry process or operation of this contest or violated the rules.

    Comment by Joe - November 5, 2008 @ 5:16 AM

  54. I am one of Cade's respite workers. Let me just say that Cade is one of the cutest children I know, and he makes a great chef. Let me also say that Cade's parents have a huge amount of friends, family, coworkers, etc. who love Cade AND his costume. AND, I've voted for my Cade every day, so there's about ten votes to account for right there! ;)

    Comment by Jessica - November 5, 2008 @ 6:40 AM

    Comment by Jennifer - November 5, 2008 @ 1:17 PM

  59. It looks like they discovered that if you delete your cookies or turn them off you can keep voting for yourself multiple times. This costume shouldn't have even been in the top 40

    Comment by Yeahright - November 5, 2008 @ 2:17 PM

  60. I hadn't looked at all the nasty comments as I have been voting for a while. I'll have to say some of you people are just possessed! My husband just happens to be one of Cade's dads bodyguards. Be careful with those words now!!!

    Comment by LA (BIG S's wife) - November 5, 2008 @ 2:20 PM

  61. Is that right Yeahright? What is the cat more deserving? Or the little devil? Wish one to you represent the epitome of originality, tastefulness, artisitic creation etc? Where are all of your votes going? The costume is cute..the background appropriate for the costume etc. Go vent your negativity somewhere else.

    Comment by Dave T - November 5, 2008 @ 3:04 PM

  62. Good Point Dave. Which costume of the leaders and on which you have not left a negative comment is it that you are voting for which you think represents the epitome of the ultimate costume? Enlighten us. Your comments just make me want to make sure I vote and send this out to every person I know and ask them to forward etc. Keep the BS coming..it is entertaining to read.

    Comment by Janet S - November 5, 2008 @ 3:19 PM

  63. It doesn't matter, the votes here doesn't choose the winner. there will be a judge panel that decides. the voting is only so the sites will get hits. So the hours if clicking the vote button is a waste of time. Oh and LA, the bodyguard threat was a little weak.

    Comment by Again - November 5, 2008 @ 3:38 PM

  64. Wow, I had no idea all of these comments were being posted. I'm just shocked that people (parents?) will say some of this mean spirited stuff.
    GO CADE!!!

    Comment by Jackie - November 5, 2008 @ 3:51 PM

  65. LOL . . . Thanks, LA! Hear that hatemongers, not only is Cade's Real Daddy going to be after you, but LA's husband, aka Big Sexy, and trust me "Again," he might look like a teddy bear, but he's a real henchman!!!!!!

    Love Ya Sweetie!

    Comment by Cade's Mommy - November 5, 2008 @ 3:51 PM

  66. Hey "Yeahright," I guess I missed that portion of the rules that encourage you to solicit votes from your family and friends, and their family and friends, and so on, but ONLY AFTER you clear your entry with preeminent judge of Halloween Costumes, "Yeahright." I've got an idea, stop spending your time on my entry and go vote for the entries which, in your esteemed opinion, do belong in the top 40!

Thanks for your valued insight, though, and for firing up my friends!!!!!

    Like this costume,

    Like this photo,

    LOVE my friends for voting!!!!!

    Comment by Cades Mommy - November 5, 2008 @ 3:57 PM

  67. Obviously “Cade supporters” have a lot of time on their hands and if this is how they choose to spend it then so be it. It is true that the votes don’t determine the winner but still, cheating is wrong. What are you teaching your children? Are you telling them that it is ok to cheat for something you want? When if you would have just spent the time and energy you have been spending cheating into making a really good costume you wouldn’t have to cheat? And is this all your integrity is worth? A costume contest where the prizes are “ok” to say the least. You are compromising your moral fiber for almost nothing at all. This is teaching your child that this is all you find yourself to be worth. One of my favorite quotes: “Cheating lowers our self-concept. Whether or not we are fully aware of it, cheating send us the message that we are not smart enough or responsible enough to make it on our own. We deny ourselves the celebration and satisfaction of authentic success”

I have read all of the comments and I am growing sadder with each one I read. It appears to me that the people calling out the “Cade supporters” are not saying anything bad about Cade yet the “Cade supporters” keep defending Cade. It is the “Cade Supports” moral value system that is in question here not Cade’s cuteness. Cade appears to be a cute kid and this is a very cute picture. This contest is about the parents’ effort and creativity that they put into their child’s costume. I will agree with the fact that there are other costumes that have been entered where it is very apparent that the parents put a lot more time and effort into the costume than Cade’s parents did. It will be nice if one of those costumes are picked by the judges, but only time will tell.

And now it is one thing to make funny comments or even snide comments but it is a completely other thing to make violent threats of bodily harm. This is actually against the law, so if I were a “Cade supporter” with a bone to pick I would be very careful about how I picked that bone. Don’t make threats of harm to the other party. If you want to maintain the fun atmosphere and healthy competition use the best tool you have, your brain. Come up with something witty and funny to say or say nothing at all.

  68. You spent $18,000 dollars on that floor! I just read some of the comments, wow, people are mean.

    Comment by Hubbard - November 5, 2008 @ 5:12 PM

  69. I would have done your floor for $17,900.00 .........................and a favor

    Comment by Shampoo Master - November 5, 2008 @ 5:38 PM

  70. Thanks for all your wisdom "Ethical Standards" but we kinda view this as a liitle old contest and not a major moral dilemma . . .

And read again, there HAVE been VERY personal attacks. We didn't invite the negativity, we didn't start it, and we haven't spread it elsewhere, so we feel pretty good about our ethics.

Thanks for the legal advice too, but I'm pretty sure that the joking "threats" against the individual who chose to post a condescending comment about me personally while impersonating my husband are not legally actionable since we have no idea who he/she is. A competitor like you I suppose.

Take your own advice and limit your next comment to the witty and funny . . . that is a lot more entertaining!

    Comment by Cades Mommy - November 5, 2008 @ 5:49 PM

    Comment by John - November 5, 2008 @ 7:12 PM

  73. I was guessing the floors are that cheap Pergo stuff because they have that extra quarter round under the cabinets which is very typical on Pergo installs. I hope you didn't pay eightteen grand for Pergo?

    Comment by Nice Pergo - November 5, 2008 @ 7:52 PM

  74. Shampoo Master? !@# are you saying? This is a fun contest for children and I don't think what you are implying is appropriate?

  75. He is not a cute kid!!!

    Comment by alias - November 5, 2008 @ 8:21 PM

  76. I'm sorry that wasn't funny. I take it back. I googled the name Cade and autism and found some really sad stories. My heart goes out to you and your family and I really do hope the best for you. I guess I have just been jaded by the fact that you have way to many votes to be real. Your kid is cute, I agree that you have a nice kitchen and I bet it is in a nice house. Good luck with your son and I wish him the best in life.

    Comment by alias - November 5, 2008 @ 8:57 PM

  77. This is a cute kid/costume. It is the only kid/pet pic which attempts to incorporate the costume into the background/overall picture. What's with all the attacks on these people's kitchen? It's nicer than ours....but is that really what this is about? I will continue to vote for this entry if for no other reason than to combat all the mean spiritedness. I think LA said it great above...you guys are possessed. Good luck

  81. Thank you for the comment on oour Cabbage Patch Kid costume, sorry people are being mean to you. But since you have great net working abilities I was wondering if you could help us out on a local costume contest that we entered.

This is the contest that started the whole idea of making the Cabbage Patch Kid box for Betty. Voting started today and ends next Thursday the 13th at noon. The first link is a link to all the pictures that people have entered into the contest and Betty is number 73. The second link takes you right to a ballot where you can cast your vote; Betty is number 73 on the ballot also. You can not do this one from work for sure, please forward it to your home email and vote from home. If you could help me network a bunch of votes by forwarding this to your friends and family and so on that would be much appreciated. The prize is $500 cash and if we win we are going to start a savings account for Betty. Attached is the picture just in case you want to see it again. Thank you!!

  99. You can justify it all you want, but I have been sitting here watching the votes pour in one right after the other. Man, you must want this bad. It's just a stupid contest. You can afford to buy any one of the prizes. Geezzz

  104. 6418! You did it.

    Comment by Im Watching You - November 7, 2008 @ 11:04 PM

So you got 2000+ people to vote for you all at the same time late at night in one hour? Wow!

    Comment by Im Watching You - November 7, 2008 @ 11:17 PM

  106. Yes, we old people have nothing better to do on a Friday night than to sit and vote for our Buddy. C'mon back, we don't have plans tonight either! That is, unless you have a life of your own - LOL!

  121. To Yeahright . . .

Proud? Sure, why not? Entered a photo that I took of my kid on Halloween in his Halloween costume in a "Fun Zone" (emphasis on "Fun") photo contest and I get to compete with and enjoy looking at some really creative costumes, some great photos, and, in some cases, a combination of both.

As for self appreciation, you must have a lot of it to think that ANYONE wants to hear anymore out of you! Go Away . . .

    Comment by Jason Voorhees - November 13, 2008 @ 7:58 AM

  127. Hahahaaa, no votes all day and now they are coming in like wildfire. I think that guy voting for the 911 kid is determined to beat you. I think you both should be disqualified. At least he admits to cheating. You both have ruined the fun for all the kids entered.

Comment by Here We Go Again - November 13, 2008 @ 10:04 PM

  128. Stop your whining. I got on the site yesterday and gave these people alot of votes throughout the day on several occasions. So if you are going to monitor..be sure to do it all day as well. Otherwise, get a life. The purpose of this contest for this company is to get as many hits on this website as it possibly can which is exactly what these people and all the other leaders are doing. So get over yourself and spare us your moral rhetoric. Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote.....hmmm...hope I just got alot of votes for them and will be back to this and my other favorites again today to Vote, Vote, Vote, Vote and Vote some more ! What's with the person that sits and monitors all this stuff?

Comment by Phi Tau to Here We Go Again - November 14, 2008 @ 7:38 AM

  129. You know, I'm so exhausted by the nasty, negative, accusatory, ANONYMOUS, cowardly posts!

If "Tomorrow's Hero" wins, good for him! It's a great photo of a handsome child and they've logged lots and lots and lots of votes, the ONLY stated objective of this contest. He's certainly wearing us out trying to keep up! LOL!

This is not a professional photography nor costuming competition. It is all about Costume Kingdom generating traffic on and hits to its website. It was free to enter and everyone has the same opportunity to vote, generate votes, solicit votes, etc. Just get over it . . .

As for fun, you must be having a little lurking on everyone else's entries ;) It can't only be fun to win!?! I think the only individuals ruining the fun for everyone else are those skulking around leaving nasty comments for other entrants under made up names!

Oh . . . and when you left your post last night it was after 1:00am where I live (Eastern Time) and I had long been in bed. So to whomever was sending us votes like "wildfire" a BIG THANKS . . . we needed them!

    Good Luck to Everyone!

  130. Thank you for your support!! So we didn't win the local contest. #22, a baby in a Superman costume standing at a coffee table in a living room won. I would put the picture here, but I don't want to upset anybody. But life moves on, we are bummed. Your support has made my husband and I feel really good. And if Betty understood I know she would be greatful too. Thanks again :)

  135. I am home sick today with a bad cold , so I thought I would check out all the costumes on the site and do some voting. This is a cute picture and I love your kitchen. I almost went with white cabinets, but was afraid it would be hard to keep them clean. I got some nasty comments on my entry that said I lied about my Princess kitty. It really hurt me, so I haven't been on here much lately. Anyway, good luck with the contest. ScotKitty

    Comment by LA (BIG S's wife) - November 18, 2008 @ 1:11 PM

  144. Hi guys. Well, it's almost over! Thank goodness, huh? Looks like Cade will be the big winner! I was hoping to at least come in 3rd place, but it's hard for a pet to win since the people costumes are all so wonderful and well done. This is my 2nd (and last) year here. Oh well, I have met some nice people and got to see some great costumes. I will keep voting for my favorites

Thanks for your votes for my Bridget the Princess Bride kitty.

  145. Rule # 2 says, 'Winners will be selected on the basis of originality, style, creativity, photographic excellence, visual impact and artistic quality.'
So all of these votes don't mean crap. This isn't a popularity contest, it is a costume contest.

    Comment by Rule 2 - November 19, 2008 @ 8:04 PM

  146. Bite it Rule 2. If that's the case then why do you even care? Here are some more votes for you Chef.

    Comment by Phi Tau - November 19, 2008 @ 10:13 PM

  147. and in fact Rule 2 do you seriously think this website cares about the creativity of the costumes? It is all about how many hits their website gets as it should be...so spare us all your rhetoric and get a life.

  148. Here's to you Rule 2!

All these votes do mean something to me, at least, so it's all good!

Thanks to all our Friends and Family who keep voting! Good Luck to those supporting another entry. As for you and all the other negative posters . . . can't wait to say good riddance when the contest is over, no matter what the outcome!

    Peace!

  150. Oh, you just now noticed that someone else padded their votes and got ahead of you so you are now doing the same thing. It's kinda funny watching you desperate people trying to win a stupid contest. Tsk, tsk. Wouldn't it be easier to just go buy the prizes since the are really cheap right now for the Holidays? I mean seriously, step back and examine your actions. Can we say obsessive and immature?

Comment by Oh for the love of....... - November 23, 2008 @ 3:55 PM

    Comment by Hubbard - November 24, 2008 @ 12:44 PM

  156. To the people leaving comments:

First, I had an entry in the contest last year. The 3 people with the highest vote counts won. One woman didn't even have a costume on! She was naked and had body paint. At least this entry is family friendly and cute. And btw, I LOVE that kitchen.
Second, they did change some rules since last year. Last year they gave prizes away to the top 3 vote getters. This year only one top vote getter in EACH catagory will win a prize (one prize per household, so mulitple high scoring entries from the same person doesn't matter). I know the rules say "judged on creativity", but it may have said that last year also. The goal of the contest is to have fun and bring traffic into Costume Kingdom. I just wish they had more costumes offered for cats, but I guess not many people dress up their cats.

At least one of the entries that won last year got a lot of negative comments about cheating also, so I guess you can save your breath about that since it doesn't accomplish anything. Doesn't the world have too much hating as it is?

Since I didn't win anything last year, I was hoping to come in at least 3rd this year, but I don't think I will make it. If anyone wants to help me out and throw some votes my way, my entry is:

    http://gallery.costumekingdom.com/image2-496/BridgetthePrincessBride

Btw... here is todays vote from me. Thanks and good luck to all.

  160. I contacted this company and they said that when they review the results if any entry has more than one vote in a day from a specific IP address that that entry is simply disqualified so...JOKES on all of you ! So keep voting for yourselves however you are doing it. Thankfully one of the honest and deserving entries will win, one of which is one I continue to vote for ONCE per day and which shows a true vote tally. So all your people who are dumping votes are simply wasting your time. HaHa..it is hilarious. What a bunch of losers you are !
