  1. Beautiful costume, did you make the wings?

    Comment by Susan - October 30, 2008 @ 9:53 AM

  2. Thanks! Yes I made the wings and the dress.

The wings are copper tubing, chicken wire and turkey feathers.

  16. Do you really have no networking skills at all? It's easy to get votes in a short period of time if you message people online and remind them to vote.

Awesome costume sweety, clearly one of the best in the contest.

  20. Shouldn't this be in the pet contest? All I see is a dog wearing some turkey feathers. Woof! Gooble, Gooble! Woof!

    Comment by I Second That - November 7, 2008 @ 6:56 PM

Grow up people. Chances are the feathers came from someones thanksgiving dinner. I'd rather see someone putting them to good use than throwing them away.

    Comment by pissed off - November 7, 2008 @ 7:55 PM

  22. Do you have any idea that you beloved Thanksgivings turkey's feathers are plucked before the are even killed and frozen for you dining delight and that during this time the birds are left to suffer for at times up to days until at least put out of their misery and put on your table? The theory being that if their feathers are plucked while they are alive that the quills and feathers themselves are stronger and more life like. This is sick that human beings feel so privileged to be able to do this to another living organism which tests have proven are able to suffer pain and suffering. I hope you choke on your next turkey leg for awhile so that perhaps you can experience just a tenth of the needless torture and pain these poor animals are forced to endure. If you research further you will find too that the plumes Athena so proudly displays are from turkeys specifically bred to have their feathers rips out for decorative purposes...not to provide sustenace for life like you find on Indian headresses. Our forefathers only killed to live themselves....and not for pure decoration. This is sick and should not be condoned.

  23. Hey, PETA.
I'm a costume Major trying to break into movie costumes. I use silk, feathers, fur, leather and even animal bones on a daily basis.

Frankly I don't care what you think about my feathers. The ability to make wings is a valuable skill in my field so I taught myself how to do it. Earlier today I was doing Leather working for a Film.
Not everyone holds to your idealist beliefs that dead animal parts cannot be used for decoration, art or even car seats.

In fact why don't you check out this costume where I used real cow bones! <3

    Comment by Athena - November 7, 2008 @ 9:49 PM

  24. That's the best costume you can do as a costume major? What crappy university do you go to? Have you ever heard of synthetic/man made substitutes? There is no need for this senseless exploitation of animals, a species that is unable to speak for themselves. Also, I thought this was an amateur contest but yet you, a self proclaimed "professional," still feel compelled to get on here to feed your own ego. You have more problems than your own insenstivity to animals. Athena you suck.

  27. What's with all the profession costume designer's multiple entries on this site, ie yours? Can you find no better ways to market yourself/feed your ego? How many entries do you have on here? Get a life.

Although I don't necessarily agree with PETA's comments. You apparently have a whole other set of issues you are dealing with.

This is a site which sells it owns costumes and sponsors an amateur contest to get people to buy its costumes/get people to its site. You are so lame, however, you have to get on here to market your own site. Why don't you just sponsor your own contest on your own site to showcase your costumes instead of being a parasite on someone else's website...and shamelessly self voting to even try to win the prize yourself. Sponsor your own contest on your own site you loser and give away your own prize. You are pathetic.

    Comment by Yeah right - November 8, 2008 @ 7:49 AM

  28. Aren't you embarassed? You should be.

We know all of these entries are yours. For goodness sake, some of them even have your coustume company's website on them. LOL. You are a joke...sponsor your own contest.

    Comment by Second That - November 8, 2008 @ 7:54 AM

  29. Why are professional costume designers with their own costume websites entering a contest on Costume Kingdon Fun Zone??? LOL. How Lame ! What a great resume builder for you...I can just hear you now in an interview "You may have seen my costumes on Costume Kingdom's Contest?" LOL You are patehtic and pretty desperate it appears.

  33. Hate to admit it but they are right girl. What does this get you...you are trying to promote yourself on a website called Costume Kingdom and are competing against homemade costumes, pets and kids. What's this get you? Pretty sad. Why don't you just do a link to your professional site so people can check out your numerous creations and leave it at that but don't sit here and vote for yourself...although I guess that is how you can keep your costumes at the front of the site. Really girl...this is sad. You need to find a better marketing person. This is the Costume Kingdon Fun Zone for goodness sake...let me repeat...this is the Costume Kingdom Fun Zone, Costume Kingdom Fun Zone...you are not going to get any Hollywood contracts from here! Uh huh...that's all I am saying girl...they are good...you just need to find a better/more legit way to promote yourself. HELLO ! Peace out Sister..... That ego ain't worth humilating yourself.

    Comment by They are right Girl ! - November 8, 2008 @ 8:30 PM

  34. Ok at what point does "major" equal "professional"

I'm a student people! Everything I entered was made by me for my own personal use as a STUDENT. I didn't enter to promote myself, I can do that fine on my own. I entered for the chance to win $$$ because I'm a poor collage student who struggles make ends meet each month.

You think Photography or Art students don't enter online contests to try and win money? Think again. Just because I study costuming doesn't mean I own a company (W T f Guys?)

Also I'm far to busy to take the time to vote for myself. I've been pulling back to back 12 hours days on set (of a STUDENT film)

    Comment by Give us a Break - November 10, 2008 @ 7:55 PM

  36. Seriously Athena...how many entries to you have on here ??? Several people have asked you and you never answered. By my last count, and I did not even go into the non-leaders, you had 10 entries. So how many is it? I also checked out your website (yeah so your site got a hit off me...WooHoo) which lists your costumes for consignment and other events so yes in my opinion, and obviously several others, you are a professional who entered into this amateur Halloween contest and are competing in an amateur contest. You should really consult your PR person for a better way to publicize yourself. As to not having enough time to vote for yourself? Yeah right was RIGHT...you have had enough time to enter as least 10 entries. You have plenty of time. Don't you feel the slighest bit silly? Oh well....at least you can brag on your resume like someone said that you competed and led in a contest sponsored by Costume Kingdom Fun Zone....that's definitely impressive ! Did you wear all of these costumes for Halloween? You must be pretty popular to get invited to all of these parties...LOL....gee whizz....huge BLUSH for you.

  37. This and her other entries are sexy? WOOF !

    Comment by LOL - November 11, 2008 @ 7:05 PM

  38. Wow, you are the most pathetic costume designer I have ever encountered. Who would want to buy your costumes after knowing how much of a cheater you are. Its a Halloween costume contest, not a designer contest. It would be different if you entered ONE costume and DIDN'T VOTE FOR YOURSELF. It is really quite ridiculous how much you sit at home and vote for yourself. Did you know you can only win one prize/contest, maybe you should read the rules. It's really sad how obsessed with yourself you have to be to not feel bad that you have only received votes from YOURSELF. seriously how pathetic are you. so sad. You have honestly ruined this contest for everyone. once again. how sad and lame are you. And about your PITTY ME i'm a design student story, once again.... sad. You even made time to sit at home and make excuses for how sad it is that you vote for yourself. You're quite ignorant if you ask me. I'm sure there are many people on this site that agree.

Oh and by the way I WAS A DESIGN STUDENT, and you are quite the embarrassment
